Egypt is hot and dry for the vast majority of the year in most locations through the country, with temperatures in summertime Cairo easily breaking the 40 degrees mark. Winters maintain an average temperature of around 20 degrees, and the winter nights still hold at around eight degrees. The Mediterranean coastline sees by far the most rain of anywhere in the country – though that isn’t to say it rains a lot, it just means average rainfall in other areas hits amounts like two mm a year.
